China topped the USA in 2012 to become the world's largest global market of smart phone users and over the past two years, the use has quadrupled. It is one of those mature markets where the growth of smart phone has been more than what was predicted. No doubt that the huge population of the country might have helped in achieving the feat, there are other factors also that a role or two to play behind this seismic demand.
As far as the analytics of different survey reports go, approximately 60 percent of mobile users in China use smart phones. Out of that, 80% of the smart phone user population fall between 16 to 26 years of age. This clearly shows that the younger generation of the country is more interested in this app-driven multitasking device than their older generation.
But the key driver of the situation is, however the price. Factors such as different kinds of offers and subsidies has helped in driving down the cost of both, producing and buying. A crucial role was, therefore, played by China smart phone manufacturers who offered high end phones at rates much lower to what was provided in the rest of the world. Talking about the smart phones that were imported into the country, their import taxes were also lessened. This minimized the gap between the production and the selling cost and as a result, buying them also became cheaper.
The prolific mobile users in China are also quite finicky about choosing their smart phones. They are typical about their operating system and go for the one that can support a variety of smart applications. Lastly, they also stress on the style and design of the gadget and make sure that they get the value for the worth paid.
Looking ahead, each market will have its own twist and turn for its products. However, in case of China, the smart phone market hasn't seen its saturation yet and it is assumed that the day is not going to appear any sooner. |
